____  Thursday, May 10 is World Cultures Day.  For this assignment, you will tell about your culture and where you are from.  We will use this for World Cultures Day.

                                       My Culture

Where my family is from                                  How I live my culture

My name is Paul, and my family is from Ireland.  I lived in Ireland until I was three years old, and then I came on an airplane to the United States.  I now live in Bolinas, California.

I live my culture by playing Irish fiddle music with my family and friends, and by cooking special foods.  I practice the music every evening with my mother and sister, and we perform for our family when we have a holiday with special foods.

Tarea 1:

____ Escriba cada palabra ortografía y el vocabulario 3 veces en tu mejor letra cursiva. Cubra la palabra cada vez que le ayude a recordar el patrón de ortografía.

    Me llamo Pablo y mi familia es de Irlanda. Yo vivía en Irlanda hasta que tenía tres años, y después me vine en un avión a los Estados Unidos. Ahora vivo en Bolinas, California.

    Yo vivo mi cultura tocando música de violín irlandés con mi familia y amigos, y por la cocción de alimentos especiales. Yo practico la música todas las noches con mi madre y hermana, y llevamos a cabo para nuestra familia, cuando tenemos una fiesta con comidas especiales.

The shapes to include in your book are:  square, rectangle, parallelogram, rhombus, trapezoid, equilateral triangle, isosceles triangle, scalene triangle.

____  Read for 25 minutes or more in a chapter book.

____  Practice the Multiplication Sweep.  (Practice it backwards or in a random order if you are already a Rockstar.)

Tuesday:

____  Many families have come to California since the beginning of the Gold Rush in 1849.  Interview your parents or family members.  Find out when, why, and how your family came.  Take notes on the tree chart outline paper.

____  Write the interview information from your tree chart as an expository paper in cursive.  Include an introduction and a conclusion.

Wednesday:

____  Read for 25 minutes or more in a chapter book. 

____  Write a poem in cursive.  This will be one of your possible selections for the poetry anthology.  You get to decide the style of poem and the subject of the poem.

Thursday:

____  Read for 25 minutes or more in a chapter book. 

____  Complete the math page.

Monday:

____  Find a picture from a newspaper or magazine.  Cut the picture in half along a line of symmetry and glue the picture on to your paper.  Carefully draw the missing half of your picture.  Label your drawing, “Line of Symmetry”.

____  Read for 25 minutes or more in a chapter book.

Tuesday:

____  Draw a polygon that follows these rules:

It has two lines that are parallel.

There is an acute angle.

There is an obtuse angle.

There is a right angle.

____  Label the parallel lines, acute angle, obtuse angle, and right angle.

____  Read for 25 minutes or more in a chapter book.

Wednesday:

____  Read for 25 minutes or more in a chapter book.

____  Write a summary in cursive for the book you are reading.

____  Practice the multiplication sweep, because it is important to keep your skills up.

Thursday:

____  Read for 25 minutes or more in a chapter book.

____  Select 4 challenging vocabulary words from your book and write the words in cursive.

____  Look the words up in a dictionary or online, and write a definition that you understand for your 4 vocabulary words.  The definitions will also be written in cursive.
